Monaco aims to activate the €11 million buy option for Barcelona loanee Ansu Fati, who has scored nine goals this season. However, Monaco faces challenges in matching Fati's €500,000 monthly salary, which they currently share with Barcelona.
Monaco want to buy Barcelona loanee Ansu Fati
When AS Monaco signed Ansu Fati (23) on loan from Barcelona last summer, the Principality club inserted a buy option that they now wish to trigger, according to a report from L’Équipe.
Fati has played 25 times for Monaco this season in what has been another campaign marked by injuries for the Spain international. However, when on the pitch, he has been effective, scoring nine goals in all competitions, including eight in Ligue 1; only Folarin Balogun has scored more goals for Monaco in the league this season.
As a result, Monaco are inclined to trigger the €11m buy option. The obstacle, however, comes in the form of the player’s salary. Monaco are currently paying half of his €500,000 per month contract. Given that Denis Zakaria and Eric Dier are currently *Les Monégasques’*top earners on €330,000, matching his Barcelona salary looks unlikely. Fati, however, is happy at Monaco.
There will have to be negotiations with potentially a lower net figure but with bonuses included in it. A meeting with the player’s entourage is envisaged within the next fortnight.
