Schlotterbeck's new Dortmund deal contains €50-60m release clause available to select 'dream clubs'
Nico Schlotterbeck's new contract at Borussia Dortmund contains a €50-60million release clause which only applies to a select few clubs and is active this summer.
Sport BILD reports that Schlotterbeck's 'dream clubs' are FC Bayern and Real Madrid – and it's almost certain that the release clause applies to them.
As things stand, Bayern are unlikely to make a move for the German international after they extended Dayot Upamecano's contract early in 2026.
In addition, Bayern's director of sport Max Eberl is not fully convinced of Schlotterbeck's qualities or whether they fit Bayern's standard.
The defender waited for concrete offers from top clubs but there were none, that's why he extended, and left the door open through the release clause.
