

Columbia Falls Wildkats defeated Ronan Maidens 9-8 in a high school softball game, with Katie Bulawski striking out the final two batters. The Wildkats led 6-2 after a strong fourth inning, and despite a late rally from Ronan, they secured the win.
COLUMBIA FALLS — KaNana Couture knocked in a pair of seventh inning runs for Ronan, but Katie Bulawski struck out the final two Maidens batters as the Wildkats took a 9-8 victory Thursday in high school softball.
Bulawski sparked a four-run fourth inning for Columbia Falls with an RBI single to right that scored Kate Lewellen. Ella Timlick then doubled to score Bulawski. When the inning ended the Wildkats led 6-2.
After Columbia Falls added another run in the fifth, Ronan found four runs in the sixth — including a Kai-Cee Sorrell single that drove in a pair — to close the gap to 7-6.
Kylie Gjesdal-Davis drove in the eventual winning run on a single in the bottom of the sixth to put the Wildkats up 9-6. After Couture’s single made it 9-8, Bulawski finished the game off with a pair of strikeouts to help Columbia Falls escape.
Bulawski finished with nine strikeouts in five innings of work, she allowed six runs on five hits.
Keeley Jackson struck out five batters in 3 2-3 innings.
