Texas A&M cornerback Will Lee III is visiting the Green Bay Packers for a pre-draft meeting as part of the team's evaluation process ahead of the 2026 NFL draft. Lee, who has played for three schools in five seasons, is projected to be a third-day selection.
Per NFL rules, the Green Bay Packers are allowed to host up to 30 draft-eligible players (excluding “local” prospects, such as those in the UW system or nearby regional schools such as Northern Illinois) for in-person visits. The Journal Sentinel is tracking the visits and supplying profiles based on information from sources and published reports.
GREEN BAY – Will Lee III played for three different schools in five seasons and at one point was considered one of the top cornerbacks in the transfer portal.
He played his final two seasons at Texas A&M and should be a third-day selection in the 2026 NFL draft.
The Green Bay Packers are hosting him on a pre-draft visit. Sports Illustrated was first to report Lee would meet with the team.
The 6-1½, 189-pound Lee isn’t the thick cornerback the Packers traditionally covet, but under new defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon, they don’t mind their corners being tall and long (see free agent Benjamin St-Juste).
Texas A&M cornerback Will Lee III celebrates a pass breakup against Missouri.
Lee had only two interceptions in his two seasons with the Aggies, but he broke up 20 passes and forced a fumble. He was allowed to play press coverage in college, but whether he can handle the size of NFL receivers is to be determined.
Nicknamed “The Blanket” while at Iowa Western Community College, he took the moniker with him to Kansas State in ’23 and A&M in ’24.
“I got in junior college when I was just locking people down down there and it just kept going on,” Lee said at the NFL scouting combine. “When I got to the SEC, it kind of just took off from there. I just took it and ran with it.”
Lee isn’t a speed burner (4.52 seconds in the 40-yard dash), but his overall athleticism is reflected in his 9.36 relative athletic score (RAS). His long arms and ability to strip the ball from receivers is something that was evident from his tape.
Though he probably won’t be selected until the third day, Lee thinks scouts value his ability.
“They like my length, my size,” Lee said. “It’s something you can’t teach. Really just being an aggressive corner, a corner that likes to tackle. I want to shut down the whole side of the field. When teams throw at me, I think it’s disrespectful.”
