Texas A&M defeated No. 2 Texas 9-8 in the series opener, aiming for its first series victory over the Longhorns at Blue Bell Park. The Aggies showcased their strong lineup, with standout performances from Nico Partida and Gavin Grahovac.
After claiming a 9-8 win over No. 2 Texas in the series opener on Friday night, No. 18 Texas A&M has the opportunity to claim its first series victory over the Longhorns in Bryan-College Station at Blue Bell Park on Saturday afternoon.
Matched against the Southeastern Conference's ERA-leading club, the Aggies proved why they have one of the elite lineups in college baseball. Texas A&M secured nine runs on seven hits with eight RBI and one solo home run from Nico Partida. First baseman Gavin Grahovac continues to wreak havoc at the plate, as he went 2-of-4 for two RBI, including a double and a triple against an extremely talented Texas pitching staff.
The key to success lies in the hands of the Aggie bullpen, which has struggled to record consistent starts. Shane Sdao got the start for Texas A&M on Friday, allowing four earned runs and striking out six, before Ethan Darden and Clayton Freshcorn came in and slowed the Longhorns down to capture the win in arguably the most thrilling series opener the Maroon and White has competed in so far this season.
