Cub Swanson went out with a victory. Convincingly.
The 42-year-old UFC veteran won his retirement fight with a complete demolition of Nate Landwehr in the first round. Swanson was regularly landing headshots against an overmatched opponent, all the way up to the one that made referee Herb Dean stand in.
It was the best possible way for a fighter to go out. It was also Swansonâs 16th win as a UFC featherweight, the third-most in history behind Max Holloway (20) and Darren Elkins (18).
The fight officially closes the book on not just Swansonâs career, but the legacy of World Extreme Cagefighting. Swanson was the final WEC alum remaining on the UFC roster, a throwback to a different era of MMA.
