We asked for your views on the news that Eddie Howe is set to lead Newcastle United into the 2026-27 season following constructive talks with the club's hierarchy.

But is the 48-year-old the right person to move the Magpies forward?

Here are some of your thoughts:

Mike: Yes, he is. The transfer mess last summer has had a big hangover this season, and that wasn't his fault. Hopefully, with the executive team now in place, we can have a better summer window and he can take us forward again.

Ewan: It has been a rough season, but factors outside of Howe's control have all contributed to this. I 100% think he is the right man to lead us forward and, with a proper team in place for recruitment this summer, the future is exciting! The players have to take some accountability for our poor form. All the points dropped from winning positions is what has cost us, that cannot continue next season.

Graeme: No, it's time to change. There are plenty of managers available, with no compensation or release fees, that would suit us. But I don't think we will twist and it will be the usual line this summer when no money is spent and Howe is told what to say.

David: I guess we have to give Howe the benefit of the doubt this season, which was unsettled from the start by the Alexander Isak debacle. We do need to find a way of structuring our system so that the strikers are better supplied in the box. Player recruitment will also be critical to his success going forward. It's not going to be easy with top players wanting to play in European competitions. We need to keep our best key players and move those on who don't fit in. I think we all know who they are!

Paul: No, not for me. All good things come to an end, and I think we've reached the end of the line with Howe, unfortunately. We need new ideas and a fresh direction, with a major rebuild in the summer. We need to be ruthless to move the likes of Yoane Wissa, Joe Willock and Anthony Elanga out and bring in better quality players like Igor Thiago, Iliman Ndiaye and Ederson. But I don't think Howe has it in him, so I would like to see us go for somebody like Andoni Iraola.
