Vaibhav Sooryavanshi of Rajasthan Royals suffered an injury scare after scoring 103 runs against Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2026. He limped off the field due to discomfort in his right thigh, initially suspected to be a hamstring injury but later thought to be severe cramps.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi gave Rajasthan Royals a major scare during their IPL 2026 clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad after limping off the field shortly after his record-breaking century. RR batting coach provide an update of his injury.
The 15-year-old appeared to pick up an injury while fielding early in the second innings. Stationed at covers, Sooryavanshi sprinted to chase a lofted shot from Ishan Kishan but suddenly pulled up, clutching his right thigh. Clearly in discomfort, he struggled to move and had to be assisted off the field by the team physio, raising immediate concerns of a hamstring injury.
Initial visuals suggested a possible hamstring pull, but subsequent indications pointed more towards severe cramps. After spending considerable time at the crease in taxing conditions, the physical strain, combined with the intense Jaipur heat, seemed to take a toll on the young batter.
Before the injury scare, Sooryavanshi had delivered a breathtaking knock, smashing 103 off just 37 balls, including 12 sixes and five fours at a staggering strike rate of 278.38, one of the most explosive innings of IPL 2026.
Providing an update, RR batting coach Vikram Rathour downplayed the severity of the issue:
âHe was feeling something on his hamstring, but now heâs looking okay. He has been treated and is doing fine. Weâll know more in a day or so, but it doesnât look anything serious,â Vikram confirmed.
Meanwhile, Sunrisers Hyderabad pulled off a stunning chase of 229 to defeat Rajasthan Royals by five wickets, powered by a destructive 132-run stand between Abhishek Sharma (57 off 29) and Ishan Kishan (74 off 31). Both batters reached their fifties in just 24 balls, making a mockery of the steep target despite a couple of dropped chances early in the innings.
Even after both were dismissed, contributions from Heinrich Klaasen (29) and Nitish Kumar Reddy (36*) ensured SRH completed the chase with nine balls to spare.
Earlier, 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi stole the show with a breathtaking 103 off 37 balls, supported by Dhruv Jurel (51). However, his dismissal halted RRâs momentum, and their total of 228/6 proved insufficient on a batting-friendly surface.
