A brace from Immanuël Pherai, followed by a well-taken strike from Tom Zimmerschied, sealed an impressive result for Vincent Wagner’s side, who responded emphatically after recent setbacks to keep their promotion push firmly on track.

Karlsruhe started brightly and enjoyed a promising spell in the opening ten minutes as Elversberg settled into the contest. However, that early momentum quickly faded, and it proved to be as good as it got for Christian Eichner’s men.

The hosts soon asserted control and made the breakthrough in the 26th minute. A slick passage of play involving the attacking midfield trio ended with Lukas Petkov squaring the ball for Pherai, who rifled home from close range to give Elversberg a deserved lead.
