The New Orleans Saints are focusing on their running back situation ahead of the 2026 NFL Draft, especially with the uncertain future of Alvin Kamara after a significant investment in Travis Etienne Jr. The team aims to enhance depth at the position, which has faced injuries and challenges recently.
We're continuing to preview the New Orleans Saints' priorities for the 2026 NFL Draft at each position group, and next up are the running backs. A big free agency investment in Travis Etienne Jr. and open-ended commentary from head coach Kellen Moore makes Alvin Kamara's future uncertain, so this sure looks like a position the Saints could continue to pour resources into. If nothing else they need to keep adding depth at a spot that's been worn down in the past. Let's ggt to it.
Who's on the roster?
Travis Etienne Jr.
Alvin Kamara
Audric Estime
Devin Neal
Kendre Miller
Evan Hull
Ty Chandler
Three of these players ended the season with injuries; Miller's year ended with a torn ACL, Neal spent the final weeks on injured reserve, and Kamara was inactive with a couple of different ailments. Hull didn't show much on limited snaps and Chandler is a new arrival in free agency. Estime ran hard and made the most of his opportunities down the stretch but you'd like him to be competing for the RB3 spot, not being Etienne's immediate backup if this is it for Kamara.
Who departed this offseason?
Nyheim Miller-Hines
Miller-Hines was a late addition and mainly worked on special teams returning punts and kickoffs, so this wasn't a big hit to the depth chart. Still, the Saints lack a sure thing in the return game after trading Rashid Shaheed and choosing not to re-sign Dante Pettis in free agency. Maybe they address that by adding another running back with some moves on special teams, but the bigger priority should be getting fast and more explosive in the backfield.
Team need: Medium priority
Another running back wouldn't improve the roster as much as a wide receiver or edge rusher, but the Saints should definitely make it a higher priority than, say, quarterback.
Top draft prospects
Jeremiyah Love, Notre Dame
Mike Washington Jr., Arkansas
Jadarian Price, Notre Dame
Jonah Coleman, Washington
Nick Singleton, Penn State
Love is seen as the only first rounder in the group, and maybe the only top-50 pick, but each of these guys should be active on Sundays in the fall. Washington broke out this season at Arkansas and showed 4.3 speed at the NFL combine. Price and Coleman are steady three-down running backs, and Singleton set some impressive records at a storied program. If this is truly the end of the line for Kamara, don't be shocked if the Saints draft a running back in rounds three or four.
What is the current status of Alvin Kamara with the New Orleans Saints?
Alvin Kamara's future with the Saints is uncertain, especially after the team's investment in Travis Etienne Jr. and his recent injury issues.
Which running backs are currently on the New Orleans Saints roster?

How did injuries affect the Saints' running back performance last season?
Three running backs, including Kendre Miller and Devin Neal, ended the season with injuries, impacting the team's depth and performance at the position.
