2026 Truist Championship purse, payouts: Kristoffer Reitan overtakes Rickie Fowler to grab inaugural PGA Tour win
Rickie Fowler almost secured a historic rally on Sunday afternoon at Quail Hollow. But his run came just too late.
With the longtime fan favorite sitting in the clubhouse, it was instead Kristoffer Reitan who surged ahead to secure his inaugural PGA Tour win at the famed North Carolina golf course.
Reitan posted a 2-under 69 in his final round to grab a two-shot win at the Truist Championship. It marked the first victory of his Tour career and extended his status on Tour after he made it in through DP World Tour qualifying last year.
For a minute there, it looked like Fowler was going to grab his first win in years. Fowler, after starting the day seven shots off the lead, made the turn on Sunday at 5-under on his round and then took the solo lead late on his back nine. He was eyeing his first Tour win since 2024. But Fowler pulled a birdie putt at the 16th and bogeyed the last, too, to close out his 6-under 65. That sent him into the clubhouse one back of a trio in the lead.
Though Fowler has struggled to get it done in recent years, he’s been knocking at the door all season. He made four top-20 finishes in his first five events of the season, and he entered this week off back-to-back top-10 runs — including a T9 finish at last week’s Cadillac Championship. He entered the week at No. 52 in the Official World Golf Rankings, too, which was his best ranking since mid-2024.
But with Fowler sitting inside, Reitan made back-to-back birdies himself, and then took a two-shot lead after Alex Fitzpatrick — who started the day with the solo lead — made double at the par-3 17th. Reitan easily reached the 18th in regulation, and settled for a tap-in par to wrap his day and secure his win. In total, he made 11 birdies and an eagle on the back nine at Quail Hollow this week.
Reitan, who finished T41 at the Masters last month, now has three top 10 finishes in his last five starts after Sunday’s win. He’s won twice on the DP World Tour in his career, too, and finished eighth in the European circuit’s standings last season to earn a spot on Tour this year.
