2027 four-star Englewood (Co.) Cherry Creek interior offensive lineman Jackson Roperās first visit to Michigan didnāt disappoint. Itās led to Rivalsā No. 1 overall prospect in Colorado and his inner circle to seriously consider scheduling an official visit with the Wolverines in a couple months.
āI really enjoyed the experience,ā Roper told Maize n Brew. āItās a good sized city with lots to do. Most of all, it was great to see just how much the city supports the university. Every single time I turned around, there was a Block M.ā
Last weekend wasnāt the first time Roper got to see Michigan offensive line coach Jim Harding command his unit in a practice setting. However, it was his first opportunity seeing Harding donning the maize and blue.
āListen, all the guys at a school like Michigan are great players,ā Roper said. āThey wouldnāt be there if they werenāt. Iām really blessed to have a few options and Iām looking to find a room that will allow me to come in and earn an opportunity to compete.
āI have a high level of respect for (Harding) and what heās done. His track record really speaks for itself at this point. I could see myself playing for him.ā
Roper has had a long-standing relationship with Harding since he was at Utah, so the visit was a chance for them to reunite in person, as well as solidify Roperās belief that Harding would help him reach his full potential.
āI really like the way coach Harding teaches the game,ā Roper said. āHeās straight forward and holds the guys to a high expectation. Iāve always functioned best under high expectations. Iām a āwork hard firstā guy that believes if youāre putting in maximum effort at all times, everything else will fall into place. I believe I can come in and contribute in one area or another right away.ā
Roperās previous visits to Salt Lake City also allowed him to keep building a bond with head coach Kyle Whittingham. His opinions on Whittingham mirror his thoughts about Harding.
āIām a big fan,ā Roper said.
Five official visits have already been set by Roper to Colorado, Ohio State, Oregon, Texas A&M and USC before the summer dead period. However, that doesnāt mean Michigan is pacing far behind.
āWe really had a good visit. I liked what I saw and Iām hoping to get back,ā Roper said. āRight now, my OV dates are full. Iāve asked my team to reach out to Michigan and see if we can get something on the books. I could see myself playing in The Big House one day.ā
