Ladies and gentlemen, we got him.
On Wednesday afternoon, the Michigan Wolverines landed the commitment of one of their top overall targets in the 2027 class in four-star wide receiver Quentin Burrell.
At 6-foot-2 and 195 pounds, Burrell hails from Chicago and plays at Mount Carmel High School. He earned his offer from Ron Bellamy when he was still the wide receivers coach for Michigan back in Jan. 2025. His recruitment took off from there, as he also earned offers from other programs like Ohio State, Penn State, Auburn, Iowa, Wisconsin, Ole Miss, Indiana, Oregon, LSU, Oklahoma, Georgia, Alabama and more.
Even when Bellamy briefly departed the program and new head coach Kyle Whittingham hired Micah Simons as the next wide receivers coach, everyone in the new coaching staff played a role in connecting with Burrell.
âCoaches are really close like a family,â Burrell told Rivalsâ Steve Wiltfong after his visit for the spring game. âAnd you can feel that, plus itâs a great school in the Big Ten with great history and traditions.â
In addition to the coaches, it would be naive to ignore the family connection that played an obvious role here as well. Burrellâs sister, Kali, just finished her senior year at Michigan and played for the womenâs soccer team. He visited Ann Arbor multiple times just to see his sister play, so that certainly did not hurt the football programâs chances of landing him.
At the end of the day, Burrell picked the Wolverines over his three other finalists â Notre Dame, Arizona State and Missouri.
247Sportsâ Andrew Ivins scouted Burrell back in January and wrote this about him:
-Steady and productive X projection that will outwork coverage for the football.
-Enters senior season as Mount Carmelâs all-time leader in touchdown catches (142 receptions for 2,396 yards and 34 scores).
-Tends to win with his route-running and overall spacing.
-Makes difficult grabs on the sidelines as he attacks passes with focused hands.
-Quick to get vertical once the ball is secured and will fight for extra yardage.
-Can certainly find a top gear, but shouldnât be classified as a burner and is the type of wideout that creates more issues for defenders with his size and IQ than his speed.
-Already embraces the idea of blocking on the perimeter and will work for teammates.
-Projects as a potential multi-year contributor with all-league upside at the Power Four level.
