Three recently released New York Giants players—Elijah Chatman, Swayze Bozeman, and Courtney Jackson—have signed with new teams after being waived. Marlon Tuipulotu remains a free agent following the termination of his contract.
A good gauge of the depth of a team's roster is seeing how many other teams covet your players. That's what happened to the New York Giants this week after they cut ties with four players to make room for their incoming rookies.
On Thursday, after the team inked several members of their 2026 draft class, they cut defensive lineman Elijah Chatman, linebacker Swayze Bozeman, wide receiver Courtney Jackson, and defensive lineman Marlon Tuipulotu.
On Friday, three of those players had already caught on with other teams, a true indication that the Giants' roster building the past few years has been heading in the right direction.
Bozeman, Chatman, and Jackson, who were all waived, landed jobs, leaving Tuipulotu, who had his contract terminated, the lone free agent.
The Giants have been adding quality players up and down the roster this offseason, and there simply is not enough room for everyone. Chatman and Tuipulotu are victims of a numbers game. The Giants have been stockpiling defensive linemen in the wake of the Dexter Lawrence trade.
Chatman, who made the Giants' final roster in 2024 as a UDFA, appeared in 22 games over his two seasons in Blue. He is a bit undersized for these new Giants (278 pounds), who are favoring stout interior linemen.
Tuipulotu was signed to a reserve/futures deal this past winter. A former draft pick of the Philadelphia Eagles, he spent the past two seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs, playing in five games. He is expected to draw interest in the market this summer.
Jackson, signed to a reserve/futures contract in February, was one of 12 wideouts on the roster, and his chances of making the 53-man roster were remote.
Bozeman played six games for the Giants last season and was primarily used on special teams. The Giants had 14 linebackers under contract, and there was little opportunity for Bozeman.
