The New York Giants are considering various options for their fifth overall pick in the upcoming NFL Draft, including a potential blockbuster trade for Myles Garrett. Coach John Harbaugh may also explore trading out of the fifth spot, especially with Dexter Lawrence's discontent.
Heading into next week’s NFL Draft, there have been a lot of rumors swirling about the New York Giants‘ selection at fifth overall. At that spot in Round 1, the franchise has a lot of options. Such as potential-rich prospect Sonny Styles. However, there has also been speculation that new head coach John Harbaugh could push to trade out of that spot.
The No. 5 pick is a valuable asset. Yet, the Giants also have an unhappy three-time Pro Bowler in Dexter Lawrence, who could be very useful in a blockbuster trade. With that in mind, let’s look at some bold trade ideas for the fifth overall selection.

There continue to be rumors that Cleveland Browns superstar Myles Garrett could be moved this offseason. While the Giants don’t badly need an elite pass rusher, you can never have enough, and the combo of Brian Burns and Garrett could be a big problem for the rest of the NFC.
Losing Garrett would be a major loss for the Browns. However, sending Dexter Lawrence and Jevon Holland back in the deal would help fill that void and make the money matchup better. The Giants would then include picks five and 105 (fourth-round), as well as a second-rounder next year in the trade. Cleveland having two picks in the top six and getting Lawrence in the trade could make giving up Garrett far more palatable.

The Kansas City Chiefs have two picks in the top 30 of next week’s NFL Draft. Selections 9 and 29, respectively. Early mock drafts linked the G-Men to Ohio State stars Caleb Downs and Carnell Tate with their pick at No. 5. However, recent reports suggest both could fall outside the top 10.
If the Giants’ brain-trust is high on either, they could still land them at 9, and then target high upside Utah tackle Caleb Lomu with pick 29. Another option could be using that second pick on Notre Dame running back Jadarian Price, since reports last month claimed New York was high on his teammate Jeremiyah Love.

Young quarterback Jaxon Dart can use all the weapons he can get. In theory, he has a WR1 in Malik Nabers. But no one can assume he will recapture his Pro Bowl form after tearing his ACL last season. That is why using their pick at No. 5 and going after an undeniable weapon like Cincinnati Bengals superstar receiver Ja’Marr Chase should be in play.
The Bengals are a mess and have a ton of money invested in three players on offense. While they would prefer to keep Chase, he is the best trade asset they might consider moving. Getting the No. 5 pick, Dexter Lawrence, as well as a fourth and sixth rounder this year, would be a strong return for the Bengals. As well as give them two selections in the top 10.

A trade between the New York Giants and Dallas Cowboys is a rarity. However, Big Blue swapping their pick at 5 for Dallas’ selections at 12 and 20 might benefit all involved, since the ‘Boys have been linked to moving up to go after Styles.
At 12, the Giants would still have an outside chance at getting Downs or Tate. But also USC’s receiver Makai Lemon and Oregon game-breaker tight end Kenyon Sadiq are realistic options. Then, at 20, talented offensive tackles Monroe Freeling or Blake Miller should be on the board.
