Spurs take a 2-1 lead into Game 4 vs. Trail Blazers on Sunday!
The Jacksonville Jaguars selected Oregon guard Emmanuel Pregnon in the third round of the draft. He is expected to compete for playing time this season amidst a competitive offensive line.
Not all that surprisingly, the Jacksonville Jaguars added to their offensive line on Day 2, selecting Oregon guard Emmanuel Pregnon.
Here are four things to know about the selection
Pregnon should have the opportunity to compete for snaps this season. Although both Ezra Cleveland and Patrick Mekari are returning, the Jaguars very much embraced competition up front last season, and there is no reason to think they won't do that again. Also, Liam Coen has made it known that improved play from the run game is a must in 2026.
Looking beyond this season, Pregnon could be a long-term answer at guard, even if he doesn't start this season. The Jaguars can get out of Mekari's contract next offseason, while Cleveland is a free agent in 2027.
On Arif Hasan's all-encompassing consensus big board, Pregnon was the 41st-ranked prospect. The Jaguars landed him at pick 88.
In his pre-draft scouting report, here is what NFL.com's Lance Zierlein had to say about Pregnon:
"Ultra-durable and experienced, Pregnon has the prototypical frame of a downhill blocker. He’ll get beat to first contact but usually reclaims the rep using well-placed hands, a broad base and upper-body power to displace and finish with authority. Range and foot quickness are average as a move blocker and lead to block leakage against slants. In pass pro, he leverages his length well and is quick to detect twists/blitz development. Long pass slides and forward lunges invite counters from skilled, sub-package rushers but protection isn’t a major concern. He’ll be an older rookie who projects as a good plug-and-play starter and immediate run-blocking upgrade."
Emmanuel Pregnon plays as a guard on the offensive line for the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Pregnon's selection adds competition to the Jaguars' offensive line, where he will compete for snaps alongside returning players.
The Jaguars aim to improve their run game performance in 2026, as emphasized by offensive coordinator Liam Coen.
