TL;DR
The San Francisco 49ers are not expected to re-sign wide receiver Jauan Jennings as they seek to strengthen their receiving corps. This decision comes amid potential losses of other key receivers in the offseason.

This offseason, the San Francisco 49ers knew they needed to address the wide receiver room with multiple additions. They've done just that with Mike Evans and Christian Kirk signing in free agency.
But the 49ers could use another receiver, as they're set to lose potentially three WRs this offseason in Kendrick Bourne, Brandon Aiyuk, and maybe even Jauan Jennings.
Speaking of Jennings, according to ESPN's Nick Wagoner, a big update on his free agency came out in relation to the 49ers. San Francisco is reportedly not planning to bring Jennings back, as the 49ers will look elsewhere for more WR depth.
49ers not expected to re-sign Jauan Jennings
"Jauan Jennings is still a free agent but is not expected back," Wagoner reported, a little over a week until the 2026 NFL Draft.
San Francisco has been linked to wide receiver prospects in the months, weeks, and days leading up to the draft, and this report will only make that link stronger than ever.
It's a deep wide receiver class, and with Evans and Ricky Pearsall leading the WR room anyway, re-signing Jennings never seemed like the obvious move.
And this report from Wagoner suggests the 49ers view the situation the same, and won't be bringing Jennings back this offseason, barring some significant change.

Jennings is expected to land elsewhere this offseason, and most likely, that will come after the NFL Draft once teams have a better idea of their WR rooms.
If a team misses out on a top WR in the draft, Jennings would be a great fallback option. But, until the draft is over, Jennings might stay unsigned as a team wouldn't want to invest in Jennings just to take a WR early in the draft.
But, from the 49ers' perspective, Wagoner's report indicates that San Francisco will be moving on from their veteran receiver Jennings after five seasons, 2,581 yards, and 22 touchdowns with the team since 2021.
