The Kentucky Wildcats and coach Mark Pope are banking on potential with their transfer portal class this offseason. They added some talented players, but haven't landed any sure-fire stars so far. One of the additions is Senegalese forward Ousmane N'Diaye.
N'Diaye comes from the international ranks, having played professionally in Europe for a few years. He is an athletic 6'11" who can score from outside as well as in the paint. Pope has spoken about him excitedly, and he could be a wild card for the Wildcats this coming season, a key one for Pope and the program.
Former Wildcat Kyle Wiltjer has played against N'Diaye, and spoke to Tom Leach on The Leach Report about him, giving him a glowing review. It should give Big Blue Nation a reason to be excited.
He can shoot really well. He’s super athletic defensively, and, you know, finishes strong at the rim. So I think Kentucky fans should be excited because he’s playing also at a high level, in terms of the league we’re here over here, there’s a lot of grown men and players who have played at a high level over here.
There will be some development involved, but there's a lot to work with. His combination of size and athleticism can't be taught, and if he can consistently knock down three pointers, he'll be a good fit in Kentucky's offense. There is still some work to be done with the roster, and a high level scoring option is needed, but N'Diaye should be a fun addition, and could be a star in the making.
