Manchester City head coach AndrĂ©e Jeglertz emphasizes the need for his team to stay focused after winning the Barclays Womenâs Super League title. The team is now preparing for an FA Cup semi-final against Chelsea.
âA great team is winning more titlesâ â Manchester City here to compete says Jeglertz
The Cityzens were confirmed as the league champions in midweek after title rivals Arsenal failed to win at Brighton & Hove Albion.
An Adobe Womenâs FA Cup semi-final at Chelsea is up next and Manchester City boss Jeglertz wants his side to be focused on pursuing another piece of silverware.
âIâve never been to Wembley, so thatâd definitely be a new thing,â Jeglertz said when speaking in the pre-match press conference. âWe wanted to win the league and that was one of our key aims going into the season but we are also competing in other parts.Â
âA good team is winning one title, a great team is winning more titles. For us, itâs about coming into this showing that weâve won the title of the league but that we are still able to focus a couple of days later, really putting a good effort in and challenging for the FA Cup. Itâll be very important for us to do that.â
The Manchester City players and staff celebrated their title win on Wednesday night but Jeglertz believes that focusing back on the next game wonât be a problem.
He said âI think this is the best way [to have another game] because you can enjoy it but we are football players and we are here to compete. We like to have different challenges, so I definitely think the players are fine, itâs not a problem to get them bouncing back to what we need for Sunday.â
Manchester City thumped Chelsea 5-1 in the last meeting in February but Jeglertz believes that The Blues have moved on since then.
He said âChelsea are a great team and theyâre totally different to when we played them in February. They have found more stability in how they are performing week-to-week. They have great players in all positions.
Andrée Jeglertz stated that a great team is winning more titles and emphasized the importance of focusing on upcoming challenges.
