Wilson was always expected to re-sign with the Aces after winning her third WNBA championship in four seasons. After the Las Vegas Review-Journalās Callie Fin reported that Wilson was expected to sign a supermax to remain with the Aces, Wilson confirmed her plans at USA Basketball camp last week, stating that she is not testing the market and is ānot leaving Vegas.ā
āIām not looking,ā Wilson said when asked about her free agency priorities.
āI know exactly where I am. I know I love Vegas. Iām not leaving Vegas, so Iām not looking anywhere.ā
Wilson previously signed a team-friendly two-year, $400,000 deal with the Aces in 2023, making her just the third-highest paid player in Las Vegas behind Jackie Young and Jewell Loyd.
So far in free agency, the Aces have brought most of their 2025 championship team back, including Young, Loyd and Chelsea Gray.
After winning her record fourth MVP award last season, surpassing the previous record of three held by Sheryl Swoopes, Lisa Leslie and Lauren Jackson, the Aces will look to run back as much of their championship crew as possible. The Acesā 2025 championship was especially impressive since they held just a .500 record at the All-Star break. They rattled off 16 straight wins to end the regular season.
Since being drafted by the Aces with the No. 1 overall pick out of South Carolina in 2018, Wilson has won Rookie of the Year, two Finals MVPs, is a seven-time All-Star and a three-time Defensive Player of the Year, among other accolades. Last season, the 29-year-old averaged 23.4 points, 10.2 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and 1.6 steals.
A'ja Wilson's new contract is worth $5 million over three years, making it the largest in WNBA history.
