Adam Schefter reports that the New England Patriots still have a chance to acquire A.J. Brown from the Philadelphia Eagles, although a trade before next week's draft seems unlikely. There's potential for a blockbuster deal before the 2026 season.
All hope isn't lost on the New England Patriots acquiring A.J. Brown this offseason.
The Philadelphia Eagles have yet to move their star wide receiver, and a move before next week's draft appears unlikely. However, Adam Schefter isn't ruling out a blockbuster before the 2026 season.
The ESPN insider declared on Monday's "The Pat McAfee Show" that the Eagles may still move Brown.
"I think this is a case where an A.J. Brown trade remains in play," Schefter said. "I think there's every possibility that he could be traded. Everybody around the league believes that. Doesn't mean it'll happen, but it's certainly on the table."
In fact, Schefter thinks Brown playing for a new team this season is the more likely outcome.
"When all is said and done, I think I lean him being traded," Schefter said. "... I still think the chances of an A.J. Brown trade are real."
The Eagles reignited Brown trade speculation by acquiring Dontayvion Wicks from the Green Bay Packers for two draft picks. They also bolstered their receiving depth by signing Marquise "Hollywood" Brown and Elijah Moore.
Schefter believes those moves make it less likely that the Eagles target a wideout with the No. 23 pick, but he hasn't changed his opinion about a potential Brown trade solely based on the Wicks deal.
"That didn't move my needle at all," Schefter said. "To me, it's just another sign that they are willing to move on from him. Just another sign. Reinforcing what we thought all along, which is that a trade is in play, remains in play and that there's a real possibility it's gonna happen."
