The Philadelphia Eagles are likely to trade A.J. Brown after June 1, with a potential return of a first-round pick from the New England Patriots. GM Howie Roseman is firm on his demand for a high-value trade, possibly involving a 2028 draft pick.
With the Philadelphia Eagles using draft capital on WR Makai Lemon, A.J. Brown being dealt post June 1 is a foregone conclusion. What the Eagles will get back for the All-Pro wideout remains uncertain, however. Philadelphia GM Howie Roseman certainly hasn't budged from his demand of a first-round pick in return. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, that price tag could ultimately be met, even if it comes a year later than Roseman would like
“I expect that this trade will come together on June 1st," Schefter said during an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show. "It’s not gonna be hard to get done. The Eagles are open to moving him, the Patriots want him, and I believe in the end it will involve a future first-round draft pick. My guess is 2028, one in 2028. But, let’s see what the two sides finally figure out there in the end.”
The Eagles appear to be preparing for life post-A.J. Brown. Makai Lemon was the fourth receiver added this offseason by Philadelphia, joining newcomers Hollywood Brown, Elijah Moore, and Dontayvion Wicks. New England didn't take a single receiver during the draft, indicating that they're set on acquiring Brown when June arrives. If the Eagles moved on from Brown before June 1, they'd be forced to take on more than $40 million in dead money. Waiting until after that date would allow them to split the hit over two seasons.
