Alabama transfer forward announces official commitment decision

One of the top overall players in the NCAA transfer portal, a commitment decision has come from Alabama Crimson Tide forward Aiden Sherrell.

Sherrell has officially committed to play for the Indiana Hoosiers during the 2026-27 season, per On3's Joe Tipton. Prior to the decision, Sherrell officially posted farewell to Alabama on social media Wednesday afternoon.

A former five-star prospect from Alabama's 2024 class, per the 247Sports Composite rankings, Sherrell averaged a combined 7.2 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks per game during his two seasons with the Crimson Tide. Sherrell also shot a combined 53.2% from the field during those two seasons, as well as 33.6% from three and 65.3% at the free throw line.

The talented big man is also coming off a breakout 2025-26 season with the Crimson Tide where he averaged 11.1 points, 6.2 rebounds, 1.1 assists, and 2.2 blocks on 53.9% shooting as a sophomore. Sherrell also posted a career-high 33.8% mark from three, as well as 71.3% at the free throw line, this past season while starting all 34 games he played.

Following the commitment of Sherrell to Indiana, two of Alabama's three players to enter the portal have announced where they will play next season. Alabama has added only one transfer so far this offseason in Brandon Garrison, a forward from Kentucky.
