Aline Gomes scores her first for Brazil and seals FIFA Series title

Saturday night (18) will always be remembered by Aline Gomes. Two minutes into the second half of the match against Canada, the forward found the net and secured the Brazilian National Team’s FIFA Series title with a 1-0 victory. After the match at Arena Pantanal in Cuiabá, the player became emotional and celebrated the achievement.

“I’m crying, but I’m still happy as always. I have no words to explain this moment. All week, whenever I was asked, I said that I’m very happy to be here,” she said.

“It’s my second call-up in a row, and there were three matches: in the first I started, in the second I came on at halftime and received a lot of praise, and in the third I started as well and was crowned with this goal, my first goal for the National Team, and capped off this tournament in the best possible way. My mother and my brother are in the stadium today, so it is definitely a day that will stay in my memory,” she added.

Aline now has 11 appearances for the Canarinha and, besides scoring her first goal, the FIFA Series title was also her first with the Brazilian National Team.

Called up five times by head coach Arthur Elias, the forward currently plays for Pachuca in Mexico. She first began to stand out while still playing for Ferroviária. After a spell with North Carolina Courage in the United States, she moved to the Mexican League.
