Angel Reese is with the Atlanta Dream after starting her career with the Chicago Sky. The Dream traded to acquire Reese in what was the signature move of the WNBA offseason. Reese made her debut with the Dream on Saturday in a 91-90 win over the Minnesota Lynx.
Although the Dream came out with the win, Reese didn’t have her best offensive game, going 4-for-11 from the field and just 3-for-6 from the free-throw line. Ahead of her second game on Tuesday night against the Dallas Wings, Reese talked about how it was a rough game for her, but that the Dream organization was keeping her confidence high.
“I mean, it was obviously rough, rough for me personally, but just being able to fight on both ends of the floor is something that I always know,” Reese said. “If the shot is not falling, I can get it back on defense, but I know I’ll have a better night tonight.
“But my team always believes in me. They put a lot of confidence into me. My coaches put a lot of confidence into me and just compelled me to keep going and keep going. And just being able to have a sister that really has your back is really important. I really appreciate it.”
Reese kept her word and definitely stepped things up. Her presence was felt on both ends of the floor, and she was well aware that she was playing better basketball. Early in the first quarter, after securing an offensive rebound and scoring the put-back bucket, Reese gave the “too small” gesture to Dallas, earnign a chorus of boos from the Dallas faithful in attendance.
Angel Reese was booed after giving a gesture during her debut game, which overshadowed her performance despite the team's win.
In her debut, Angel Reese scored 4 points, shooting 4-for-11 from the field and 3-for-6 from the free-throw line.
Angel Reese described her performance as rough but expressed confidence in improving and contributing on defense.

For her part, Reese loved the energy from the crowd and motioned for it to turn up the volume.
It’s great to see Reese clicking on all cylinders. If she can continue to turn in consistent performances on offense, there’s no reason she won’t be in MVP conversations at the end of the season.
