Ansu Fati’s father provides update on his Barcelona future: ‘We want him to…’
There was a time when Ansu Fati was seen as the natural heir to Barcelona’s attacking throne.
Injuries, however, disrupted that narrative, forcing the club to rethink his development.
Now, away from the spotlight of Barcelona and rebuilding his career at AS Monaco, the Spanish forward finally looks settled again.
After years of stop-start progress, this loan spell in Ligue 1 has offered something priceless – stability.
And within the player’s inner circle, there is now a growing belief that this environment could be the best place for him to rediscover his best version.
That sentiment has been strongly shared by his father, Bori Fati, who has provided fresh insight into the situation.
Speaking about his son’s current mindset and future, he made it clear that continuity is the priority at this stage of his career.
“We still don’t know what will happen with his future, because he has a contract until 2028—that much is certain.
“We don’t know, but we want him to stay at Monaco because he’s happy there,” he said, as per Mundo Deportivo.

Furthermore, questions have been raised about whether Hansi Flick sees a role for the La Masia graduate moving forward.
However, Bori Fati clarified that there has been no communication so far between the two sides.
“It depends on Flick, but they haven’t spoken yet,” he noted.
That uncertainty leaves the door open, but it also suggests that Barcelona are not actively pushing for his immediate return.
From Monaco’s perspective, they are satisfied with his performances and would welcome the opportunity to keep him beyond this season.
Yet, the situation is not straightforward. While the reported €11 million buy option is within reach, the real obstacle lies in his wages – a figure that currently stretches beyond what the Ligue 1 side is comfortable committing to.
Notably, Ansu renewed his contract with Barcelona until 2028 before leaving on loan, even agreeing to defer part of his salary.
That decision now complicates negotiations, as any permanent move would likely require financial adjustments from all parties involved.
