On May 12, Kimberly defeated Fond du Lac 3-0 in high school baseball, with Maddux Hermus and Pierson Hacker pitching a two-hit shutout.
Appleton area high school sports results for Tuesday, May 12
KIMBERLY - Maddux Hermus and Pierson Hacker combined to pitch a two-hit shutout to lead the Papermakers to the Fox Valley Association win over the Cardinals.
Hermus pitched six innings and allowed two hits. He walked one and struck out 11. Hacker pitched one inning, walked one and struck out two.
Kimberly, which was held to four hits, scored one run in the third inning and two in the fourth.
Ryan Halfmann had two hits and an RBI. Jake Mau had one hit and drove in two runs. Hacker had the other hit for the Papermakers.
Grant Guderski had both hits for Fond du Lac.
NEENAH - Ethan Hellengreen was 2-for-3 with a grand slam and six RBIs as the Rockets blew past the Spartans en route to the Fox Valley Association win.
Also powering the Neenah offense were Levi Boivin, who was 2-for-2 with a homer and three RBIs; Gus Weinholzer, who doubled twice; Cal Juckem, who was 2-for-2 with a triple and two RBIs; Landen Sheppard, who was 2-for-3 with a double; and Henry St. Clair, who was 2-for-2 with an RBI.
The Rockets struck for three runs in the first, 13 in the second and four in the third to cruise to the victory. Neenah outhit Oshkosh North 19-4.
The Spartans scored their lone run in the fourth.
Weinholzer pitched three innings for Neenah. He allowed one hit and struck out seven.
APPLETON - The Wildcats pooled together five hits, four walks, two hit batters and three Appleton West errors to defeat the Terrors.
William Malnar had a double and Ethan Chosa had a single to account for Appleton West’s hits.
Quintynn Grych allowed six runs, while Reeder Luedtke gave up five runs for Appleton West.
APPLETON - Jack Tennie had three hits, including a double, and drove in two runs to lead the Polar Bears to the victory over the Patriots.
Kolten Jens added a triple for Hortonville.
Matt Tank was the winning pitcher. He went 3⅔ innings, allowed three hits, no runs and struck out two.
Kimberly won the game against Fond du Lac with a score of 3-0.
Maddux Hermus and Pierson Hacker were the standout pitchers, combining for a two-hit shutout.
The game was part of the Fox Valley Association.
The game took place on Tuesday, May 12.

KAUKAUNA - The Ghosts who led 2-1 after five innings scored three times in the sixth and twice in the seventh to defeat the Lightning in the completion of a game suspended from April 14.
Kaukauna had just six hits and one walk in the game but Appleton North made five errors.
Appleton North had just two hits in the contest, a double by Aedan Waterstreet and a home run by Teegan Karpinske.
Cash Christianson went 5⅓ innings, allowing five runs (one earned) on three hits and a walk while striking out six. He took the loss for Appleton North.
In the regularly scheduled game, Appleton North took a 2-0 lead in the first inning and held it until the last of the seventh when Kaukauna tied the game.
The Ghosts then scored the winning run in the ninth inning.
Waterstreet and Nathan Ramus both had two hits for Appleton North.
Christianson started the game for Appleton North, went seven innings and allowed two runs (zero earned) on six hits.
Owen Reuland pitched the eighth and ninth for the Lightning, allowing one run on two hits and getting charged with the loss.
APPLETON - The Hawks trailed 4-2 after 3 1/2 innings before scoring four runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings to win comfortably over the Wolves.
Xavier had eight hits and took advantage of 13 walks and five errors by Winneconne.
Andon Lang drove in two runs for Winneconne. He had a double, as did Noah Bouras.
Bouras was charged with loss for Winneconne.
Kyler Bleck struck out seven batters in 5 2/3 innings to get the win for Xavier.
Quinn Comerford hit a solo home run for the Hawks. Matthew Potter and Titan Milhaupt each had three RBIs.
SEYMOUR - The Thunder scored the game’s only run in the fifth inning and went on to defeat the Bluejays in a Bay Conference matchup.
Brayden Banker drove in the winning run for Seymour with a single.
Banker also pitched a complete game for Seymour. He allowed three hits and no walks while striking out seven.
WAUPACA - The Irish scored three runs in the fifth inning and four runs in the sixth to pull away for the North Eastern Conference win over the Comets.
Carson Peters had a home run and a triple and finished with five RBIs for Freedom. His triple broke the school record for triples in a career.
Eli Shepard went 4-for-4 with two doubles and drove in two runs. Carlton Romitti was 3-for-3 with three RBIs, and Quinn Brennenstuhl also banged out three hits.
Chase Calmes pitched four innings to get the win. He allowed seven hits, four runs (three earned), walked one and struck out three. Corey Mathison pitched three innings, allowed two hits, walked one and struck out five.
Ollie Waller and John Zeamer each had two hits for Waupaca.
WRIGHTSTOWN - The Mustangs scored three runs in the first inning and three in the second inning as they cruised to the North Eastern Conference win over the Tigers.
Reece Joten had two hits, including a home run and a double, and drove in four runs for Little Chute. Noah Faccio had two hits, including a home run, and had four RBIs. Trevor Verhagen added three hits and three RBIs, while Jaden Hermsen and August Hawthorne each had two hits.
Hermsen pitched five innings to get the win. He allowed three hits, two runs, walked five and struck out 10. Griffin Hank pitched two scoreless innings, allowed one hit, walked one and struck out two.
Ryan Leahy had a hit and an RBI for Wrightstown.
FOX CROSSING - Ethan Plutz pitched a two-hitter to lead the Zephyrs to the win over the Resorters.
Plutz allowed two hits over seven innings while striking out four to get the win for St. Mary Catholic. He faced just 24 batters.
Luke Fairweather had two hits for St. Mary Catholic. Andrew Ernsting had a double and two RBIs.
REEDSVILLE - The Panthers scored three runs in the first, second and fourth innings and four in the fifth in the win over the Wolves.
Reedsville finished with 13 hits.
Max Schneider hit a double for Hilbert, which finished with five hits.
Drew Halbach started and took the loss for the Wolves.
APPLETON - Eileen Gassner was 3-for-3 with a double, a home run and three RBIs to help lead the Polar Bears to the Fox Valley Association win.
Hortonville scored one run in the first, three in the third, five in the fourth, one in the sixth and three in the seventh.
The Patriots scored their lone run in the bottom of the first.
Besides Gassner, the Polar Bears were also led by Emma Schlafer, who was 2-for-2 with one RBI; Dakota Foster, who was 2-for-2 with two RBIs; Evalyn Stanelle, who was 2-for-3; Grace Danoski with a homer; and Samantha D’Addario with a homer and two RBIs.
Aubrie Erickson was 2-for-4 with a double, while Reese Reichelt was 2-for-3 for Appleton East.
KIMBERLY - Down 10 runs, the Papermakers rallied late to earn the Fox Valley Association win.
Fond du Lac scored four in the first, two in the second and four in the third before Kimberly scored three in the third and one in the fourth. The Cardinals led 11-6 after five and scored two in the sixth. The Papermakers, however, struck for eight in the bottom of the sixth and then blanked Fond du Lac in the seventh.
The Cardinals were led by Lauren Bauer and Liberty Gessner, who had three hits each, including a homer and two doubles by Gessner. Tori McClyman, Lexi Pagel and Hailey McClyman added two hits each.

WINNECONNE - The Bulldogs took charge with three runs in the fourth, one in the fifth and five in the sixth en route to the Bay Conference victory.
Winneconne scored its lone run in the seventh.
Helping lead the New London attack were Ellington Kaepernick, who was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs; Alaina Jones, who was 2-for-4; and Ellie Winkelman, who was 2-for-3 with a double.
Winkelman also got the win in the circle, pitching seven innings and allowing seven hits, one earned run and two walks while striking out nine.
Audra Schaffer was 2-for-4, while Julia Youngbauer was 2-for-3 with an RBI to lead the Wolves.
SHAWANO - The Bluejays scored two runs in the top of the eighth to outlast the Hawks in Bay Conference play.
Menasha scored one in the second and two in the third, but Shawano countered with two in the fourth. The Bluejays got one run in the sixth, but the Hawks tied the game with two in the bottom of the frame.
Ayanna O’Kimosh was 2-for-4 with one run scored to lead Shawano.
FREEDOM - The Spartans used an eight-run sixth inning in Game 2 to earn the doubleheader sweep in North Eastern Conference action.
The game was tied at 4-4 entering the inning before Luxemburg-Casco’s offense exploded. The Irish closed out the scoring with two runs in the seventh.
Alayna Deprez had the hot bat for the Spartans, going 3-for-5 with three doubles and three RBIs. Also leading Luxemburg-Casco were Stella Schleis, who was 3-for-5 with an RBI; Claire Schleis, who was 2-for-4 with a triple and three RBIs; Karsyn Walyczyk, who was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs; Riley Westland, who was 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs; Abigail Buckmaster, who was 2-for-4 with two doubles; and Gracie Jandrin, who was 2-for-4.
Brooke Sowinski led the Irish, going 4-for-4, while Kourtney Moeller homered and drove in three runs. Also getting two hits each for Freedom were Breanna Dallmann, Addison Murphy, Jovie Smith and Jaylin Gribble.
In the opener, the Spartans scored single runs in the first, fourth, fifth and sixth innings before holding off a late Freedom charge. The Irish scored once in the fifth and two in the seventh.
Walyczyk powered the Luxemburg-Casco offense, going 3-for-3 with a home run, while Claire Schleis was 3-for-4 with a double.
Smith led the Freedom offense, going 2-for-3 with a homer and one RBI. Sowinski added a double. Jessa McArtney earned the win in the circle, pitching seven innings and allowing eight hits, four runs (two earned) with one walk and eight strikeouts.
WRIGHTSTOWN - The Tigers scored in five of the six innings in which they batted as they downed the Panthers in North Eastern Conference action.
Layla Beyer had the hot bat for the Tigers, going 2-for-5 with a double, homer and three RBIs. Also adding two hits each for Wrightstown were Bryn Amundson, Morgan McKewin and Sophia Garcia, while Elaina Verbeten added a triple.
The Tigers scored one in the first, one in the second, two in the third, two in the fourth and six in the sixth.
Oconto Falls scored one in the third, two in the fifth and three in the sixth to knot the score before falling.
Emma Laughrin led the Panthers with three hits, including a double, while Amelia Danielczak added two hits, including a double.
CLINTONVILLE - Claire Papendorf tossed a four-inning no hitter, striking out five, and the Truckers raced out to a big lead early and cruised to the North Eastern Conference victory.
Clintonville scored two in the first, six in the second and seven in the fourth.
Emily Hagman, Marley Tauferner, Abby Tate and Papendorf had two hits each to lead the Truckers.
FOX CROSSING - Breanna Neubert was 3-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI, but the Zephyrs’ late rally fell just short in the Big East Conference matchup.
Paxtyn Trinkner was 2-for-2 with a homer and two RBIs, and Scarlett Reichenbacher was 2-for-4 with an RBI for St. Mary Catholic.
The Zephyrs led 2-0 after one, 3-1 after two and 4-3 after three. Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah tied the game in the fifth and then scored two in the seventh to take the lead. SMC responded with a run in the bottom of the frame, but couldn’t complete the comeback.
Alyssa Lukich and Peyton Ward each drove in two runs for the Resorters.
Gabby Guerrero pitched a complete game for SMC. She allowed six hits, two earned runs, walked three and struck out one.
BRILLION - The Lions scored the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning to earn the Eastern Wisconsin Conference win.
Carter Miller led the Brillion offense, going 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI, while Amaya Brooks added a home run.
The Lions led 1-0 after one inning and 2-1 after three. Sheboygan Falls/Kohler tied the game with a run in the seventh, setting up Brillion’s heroics.
Evelyn Devine led Sheboygan Falls/Kohler, going 2-for-3 with a double.
CHILTON - The Raiders scored in five of the six innings en route to the Eastern Wisconsin Conference victory.
Kiel scored two runs in the first inning, two in the third, three in the fourth, two in the fifth and six in the sixth.
Chilton scored twice in the first and once in the fifth.
The Tigers were led by Lauren Roehrig, who was 3-for-3 with a triple, home run, two runs scored and one RBI.
PLAINFIELD - Two big innings helped propel the Wolves past the Penguins in nonconference action.
Manawa scored eight runs in the second, two in the third and five in the seventh.
Tri-County scored one in the first and three in the second.
Helping power the Wolves’ offense were Katelyn Krueger, who was 3-for-5 with a triple and an RBI; Addisyn Niemuth, who was 3-for-4 with three runs scored; Taelyn Bonikowske, who was 3-for-5 with a double; Alexis Ferg, who was 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs; Alayna Seeger, who was 2-for-4 with two runs scored; and Callie Pethke, who was 2-for-5 with a double and three RBIs.
SHIOCTON - The Thunderbirds broke open a close game with eight runs in the sixth inning and two in the seventh to earn the Central Wisconsin Conference win.
Braelyn Jueds was 5-for-5 with a double, while Brylee Jueds was 3-for-3 with four RBIs to lead Iola-Scandinavia. Brooklyn Berrens was 3-for-3 with a triple and two RBIs, while Maddie Karolus was 2-for-5 with three RBIs for the Thunderbirds.
Iola-Scandinavia led 3-1 after one inning, 3-2 after two and 5-2 after three before putting the game out of reach late.
APPLETON - The Papermakers led 3-0 at halftime in the Fox Valley Association win over the Terrors.
Vada Sousek scored two goals for Kimberly and Kennedy Ebben had the other goal. Emily Urban had two assists and Ashlyn Krueger also had an assist.
WRIGHTSTOWN - Claire Theunis scored two goals for the Tigers in the victory over the Comets.
Paige Huss and Danica Bartolazzi had assists for Wrightstown.
Tigers goalie Ava Krueger made five saves.
FREEDOM - The Irish scored two goals in the second half to pull away for the North Eastern Conference win over the Vikings.

Rio Martinez won the 1,600-meter run for Sturgeon Bay with a time of 5:08.13. Arties Bernadin, Ryan Felhofer, Rayshaune Johnson and Kamari Robertson won the 400 relay for Sturgeon Bay.
Kewaunee’s Mitchell Boeder was a double winner, taking first in the shot put with a toss of 48-2.25 and the discus with a throw of 169-6.
