The Arizona Cardinals signed running back Jeremiyah Love to a fully guaranteed four-year deal worth over $53 million. Love, the third overall pick in the draft, now holds the record for the highest salary guarantees for a running back in NFL history.
The Arizona Cardinals now have four of their seven draft picks from last month under contract. After signing their final three selections on Thursday, the Cardinals announced on Friday that their top pick, running back Jeremiyah Love, signed his four-year rookie deal that includes a fifth-year team option.
As is the case for all first-round picks, his entire contract is fully guaranteed.
Love was the third overall pick in the draft, and is contract is slotted to be more than $53 million over four years, making him the seventh-highest-paid winning back in terms of per-year average in the NFL before he even plays a snap. His salary guarantees are the most ever for a running back, breaking the previous mark of $36 million, set by Saquon Barkley of the Philadelphia Eagles.
Love was the highest-drafted running back since Barkley was the second overall pick in 2018.
There are high expectations for Love. He is the betting favorite to win Offensive Rookie of the Year.
For now, though, it is rookie minicamp and he needs to learn the playbook, get accustomed to the NFL schedule and then prepare for training camp and the preseason later this summer.
