Arizona womenās basketball needed size and it got it. For the second straight day, the Wildcats have received a commitment from a transfer who stands 6-foot-2 or taller. On Monday, it was former USC forward Gerda RauluÅ”aitytÄ. Today, former Maryland forward Breanna Williams followed her.
Williams has spent two years with former Wildcat Brenda Frese and the Terrapins, but she redshirted the first season. That brings her to Arizona with three years of eligibility.
Williams didnāt see a lot of time on the floor during her redshirt freshman season, but she took advantage of what she got. Her numbers project very well on a per-40 basis.
On a per game basis, the 6-foot-2 forward accounted for 4.7 points on 48.6 percent shooting, 2.8 rebounds, 0.4 assists against 0.9 turnovers, 0.3 steals, 0.2 blocks, 1.1 personal fouls in 10.3 minutes per contest. She appeared in 24 games, including 13 contests against Big Ten foes and the Terrapinsā opening game in the NCAA Tournament.
When her numbers are extrapolated across 40 minutes, she was good for 18.3 points, 11.0 rebounds, 1.6 assists against 3.4 turnovers, 1.3 steals, 0.8 blocks, and 4.4 personal fouls.
She arrived in College Park after a successful high school showing at Skyview High School in Billings, MT. She was a four-star recruit ranked No. 45 in the class of 2024 according to ESPN. Gatorade tabbed her the Montana Player of the Year her junior and senior seasons. She averaged 25.2 points, 11.0 rebounds, 5.0 assists, and 3.2 steals per game her final year in high school.
Williams gives Arizona four bigs for the 2026-27 season. She will join rising senior RauluÅ”aitytÄ and freshmen Callie Hinder and Priyanka Ponnam.
It wasnāt the only good news head coach Becky Burke got on Tuesday, either. California transfer Aliyahna āPuffā Morris also officially signed, giving Arizona a point guard with Power 4 experience.
Unlike last season, when Burke had to scramble to assemble a roster, her transfers so far in 2026 have all played in the Western U.S. at some point. Two of the three are from the West.
Breanna Williams redshirted her first season at Maryland, so specific stats from her playing time are limited, but she brings three years of eligibility to Arizona.
Breanna Williams' commitment adds significant height and depth to Arizona's roster, which is crucial for their competitive strategy in the upcoming season.
Gerda RauluÅ”aitytÄ is a former USC forward who recently committed to Arizona, and her addition, alongside Williams, aims to bolster the team's size and performance in the next season.
