Arne Slot confirms Liverpool star is ‘quite far away’ from injury return
Conor Bradley, the 22-year-old right-back for Liverpool, has been sidelined since suffering a significant knee injury in the 0-0 draw against Arsenal back in January. The injury occurred during stoppage time when Bradley fell near the touchline and had to be stretchered off the field. Following scans, Liverpool confirmed that the damage was substantial, involving both bone and ligament injuries. While there was no ACL rupture, the severity of the injury meant Bradley would need surgery and a lengthy recovery period.
After undergoing surgery at the AXA Training Centre, Bradley’s rehabilitation process began, effectively ruling out any possibility of a return to action this season. The Northern Ireland international, who had been in impressive form, was also forced to miss his nation’s crucial World Cup playoff match against Italy. The absence was a significant blow, as Northern Ireland fell short in their bid for qualification.
Bradley later shared on social media that his surgery had gone well, providing fans with reassurance during a challenging period. However, his rehabilitation process is ongoing, and manager Arne Slot recently provided an update on the player’s recovery.

In his pre-Chelsea press conference, Arne Slot revealed that Bradley is still “far away” from returning to full training. The Dutch manager explained the complexities of the rehab process, highlighting how challenging it is to predict when the young full-back might be ready to return. “In the rehab it’s always important if some steps go well. It’s really difficult in the stage he’s in now to predict when he will be back. He’s still inside and working really hard, but he is quite far away from going outside, that makes it quite complicated to tell,” Slot said.
While Bradley’s absence has been a setback for both club and country, Liverpool will continue to monitor his progress. The club is focused on ensuring that he recovers properly, with no further setbacks.
Bradley’s injury, alongside his hamstring issues earlier in the season, has meant that Liverpool have had to cope without one of their key defenders. The 22-year-old’s absence has also raised questions about how Liverpool might approach their right-back position in the upcoming transfer window. With Bradley still far from match fitness, the club may need to consider other options or reinforcements for the position.
As of now, however, the primary goal remains Bradley’s full recovery. The club is prioritising his health and rehabilitation before any further decisions are made.
Bradley’s road to recovery is still ongoing, but Liverpool will be hoping that the young defender can return to the pitch stronger than ever. With Arne Slot at the helm, the club will look to support Bradley in every way possible as he works through his rehab stages. While the injury has been a setback, Bradley’s potential remains high, and his return will be eagerly anticipated by Liverpool fans.
