Arthur Fils provides a positive update after hip injury scare in Rome
Arthur Fils raised concerns during his Italian Open second-round match against Andrea Pellegrino, when he retired halfway through.
Speaking after the match, Fils explained that he had experienced pain in his hip and didn’t want to jeopardise his fitness ahead of the French Open.
The 21-year-old has shown strong form since coming back from a back injury earlier this year, and fans will be relieved to hear the latest on his health.

“Felt something during the match in Rome, so we decided to run all the necessary tests with the team,” Fils said in a post on his Instagram story.
“Everything came back clear.
“No need to take any risks at this stage of the season. Already back to work and fully focused on Paris.
Fans will be relieved by the news, especially given what Fils has endured over the past 18 months.
A stress fracture in his back suffered during last year’s clay swing kept him out for almost all of 2025, disrupting what had been a promising rise through the ranks.
The 21-year-old has impressed since making his return in February, reaching at least the quarter-finals in seven of the nine events he’s played so far this season. He also claimed his biggest title yet when he won the Barcelona Open just last month.
