Looking around Major League Baseball, especially after what happened with Alex Cora, there are certainly a few skippers around the league who need to be cautious about how their team plays. Unfortunately for Astros head man Joe Espada, he's probably at the top of that list.
Espada, who many consider a good guy and somebody players want to play for, just hasn't found the success in Houston that he was expected to.
There are a few factors for that, but now at 11-18 and in last place in the American League West, there's simply no excuse for this. Many believe that Espada could be the next man fired, and it's almost tough to disagree with anybody who feels that way.
Not only that, but Alex Cora could be a guy who gets a job in Houston if the Astros want to act fast.
âBefore being hired to manage the Red Sox, Cora was the bench coach with the Houston Astros, and was with the team when they won their World Series title in 2017. That title is now tainted by the sign-stealing scandal, but Cora still played a big role in Houston winning its championship.
âThe Astros are 10-18 and have the worst record in the American League. Joe Espada hasn't had much success, but having somebody with the pedigree that Cora does could change a lot and help them get back on track in the near future. He is familiar with the organization and would make sense as a replacement for Espada,â Curt Bishop of SI wrote.
Cora has a relationship with the Astros, though it's also important to remember that he might not want to immediately be a head coach if the Astros decide to get rid of Espada right now.
Joe Espada is in danger of being fired due to the Astros' poor performance, currently holding a record of 11-18 and last place in the American League West.
The news about Alex Cora has heightened scrutiny on Joe Espada, with speculation that Cora could replace him if the Astros decide to make a change.
Joe Espada's current record as the Astros' manager is 11 wins and 18 losses.
