On May 5th, the Sugar Land Space Cowboys lost 7-5 to the Isotopes, while the Asheville Tourists won 10-9 against the Emperors. Notable performances included Shay Whitcomb's home run and Caden Powell's three-run homer.

Asheville got on the board in the first inning on a Brutcher bases loaded walk. In the 2nd inning, Thomas added an RBI single to extend the lead. Rodriguez got the start and allowed 2 runs over 5 innings of work. The offense put together a big 4th inning scoring 4 runs on a Powell 3 run home run and a Nunez solo home run. They followed that up with 4 more runs in the 5th on Frey and Brutcher 2 run singles. The pen struggled a bit allowing 7 runs but was able to hold on for the 10-9 win. **Note:** Thomas is hitting .292 this season.
The Woodpeckers jumped put to an early three run lead getting solo home runs in the first inning on Neyens and Ochoa and a Flores RBI single. Verdugo got the start and pitched really well tossing 5 no-hit innings with 5 strikeouts. In the 5th, the offense got 2 more runs on an Alvarez 2 run home run. Sierra added some insurance in the 6th with a solo home run. Varela tossed a scoreless inning and Beck closed it out striking out 5 over 3 scoreless innings as the Woodpeckers won 6-0. **Note:** Neyens is hitting .372 over his last 12 games.
