Atlanta Braves' Ronald Acuna Jr. Shares Injury Update on Thursday
Atlanta Braves star Ronald Acuna Jr. is working his way back from a hamstring injury. While he is not expected to be activated during the team's current homestand, it does seem as if Acuna could return fairly soon. The Braves star shared an encouraging update on Thursday, via Jesús Cano of The Athletic.
"I feel good," Acuna said in Spanish. "Doing all the things the trainers are telling me to do so I can get back to the field as soon as possible."
The Braves are proceeding with caution when it comes to Acuna's return from injury. They do not want to rush him back too soon.
Acuna was hitting .252/.362/.378 across 34 games played before suffering the injury. He had two home runs, eight doubles and seven stolen bases as well. Acuna always makes a significant impact, and the Braves are hopeful that he can return sooner rather than later.
The team will continue to monitor and provide updates on Ronald Acuna Jr.'s injury status as they are made available.
Atlanta looks like a legitimate World Series contender at the moment. The Braves are 30-13 overall and in first place in the National League East standings. Not only do they hold a 9.5 game lead over the second place Washington Nationals, but the Braves have the best record in all of MLB.
They have used a complete team effort to find their success. The offense has had a number of players step up, while the pitching has worked together to perform well overall.
The Braves have dealt with multiple injury concerns as well, yet they are still winning games at an incredible rate.
Atlanta still has work to do since it is only May, but the ball club is in a tremendous position right now to say the least.
Atlanta is set to play the final contest of a three-game series against the Chicago Cubs on Thursday night. The Braves earned victories in the first two games of the series, winning 5-2 and 4-1.
