Auburn basketball is showing interest in former Arizona forward Dwayne Aristode, who has entered the transfer portal. The 6-8 forward could help fill gaps in Auburn's front court after several departures.
One of Auburn's greatest needs in the transfer portal is at forward, and one former Big 12 player could fill one of those slots.
Former Arizona forward Dwayne Aristode entered the transfer portal on Monday, and Auburn has become the "early school to watch" as the possible destination for the freshman forward, according to Pete Nakos of On3.
Auburn needs to fill slots left behind by Keyshawn Hall, KeShawn Murphy, Filip Jovic, and Elyjah Freeman in the front court, and Aristode could be a prime candidate for the job. The 6-8, 220-pound forward from The Netherlands averaged 3.8 points, 1.7 rebounds, and shot 49% from the field in 35 games. He made zero starts for the Wildcats and averaged just over 12 minutes per game. He scored a season-best 18 points in the third game of the season for Arizona, an 84-49 win over Northern Arizona on Nov. 11. He reached the 10-point mark three times this season and averaged two points per game during Arizona's Final Four run.
He played 13 minutes in Arizona's 97-68 win over Auburn on Dec. 6 in Tucson, where he scored eight points. Aristode is one of several forwards Auburn is looking at during the transfer portal window, joining Troy's Thomas Dowd and Texas' Camden Heide.
