Azzi Fudd was selected as the No. 1 overall pick by the Dallas Wings in the 2026 WNBA Draft, reuniting with former UConn teammate Paige Bueckers. They are the first college teammates to be picked No. 1 overall in consecutive drafts.
During their time at UConn, Fudd and Bueckers led the Huskies to the 2025 national championship, with Fudd earning the tournamentâs Most Outstanding Player award.
Following Fuddâs selection at Monday nightâs draft, the pair wasted no time reuniting backstage. The two linked up for an epic photo in their draft day fits that immediately went viral on social media.
Now that Bueckers and Fudd are reunited in Dallas, there are high hopes for what the future holds for the Wings, who will aim to win a championship with their reloaded roster.
In her final year at UConn, Fudd averaged 17.3 points, 3.1 assists, and 2.6 rebounds per game, while shooting 48.1 percent from the field and 44.7 percent from behind the arc, earning All-American honors. Bueckers, meanwhile, is coming off a Rookie of the Year campaign, where she averaged 19.2 points, 5.4 assists, 3.9 rebounds, and 1.6 steals per game, while leading all guards with a 20.3 efficiency rating.
Dallas will kick off its preseason on Thursday, April 30, against Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever. The two teams will run it back just over a week later to kick off the regular season at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Saturday, May 9.
