Azzi Fudd made a striking appearance in a high-slit silver dress at the 2026 WNBA Draft Orange Carpet, where she awaited news on her professional career. She was supported by former teammates from UConn at the event held in New York City.
Fudd was joined by some familiar faces on the Orange Carpet, as her former Huskies teammates came to show their support at The Shed at Hudson Yards in New York City.
When it was all said and done, Fuddâs name was the first to be announced by WNBA commissioner Cathy Engelbert, and she was the No. 1 overall pick of the Dallas Wings.
With the Wings, Fudd is reunited with fellow former UConn star Paige Bueckers, who she dated last year when Bueckers was selected No. 1 overall.
Fudd is fresh off a heartbreaking loss to Dawn Staleyâs South Carolina Gamecocks in the Final Four of the 2026 NCAA womenâs basketball tournament. It was a disappointing end to Fuddâs incredible time at UConn, but she has every reason to hold her head high.
Fudd ends her college career as a national champion, a first-team All-American, 2025 NCAA Tournament MOP, and a two-time first-team All-Big East honoree. Now, she will prep for the start of her WNBA career in Dallas, which will kick off in a matter of weeks.
The Wings will tip off their preseason on Thursday, April 30, against the Indiana Fever. The two teams will run it back on Saturday, May 9, on the road against Caitlin Clark and the Fever to get their regular season underway.
