FC Barcelona are always alert to young talent making waves across the globe, with a view to bringing them to La Masia and building them into future stars.
This tactic saw them sign English wonderkid Ajay Tavares from Norwich City earlier this year, while they also roped in Egyptian gem Hamza Abdelkarim.
Now, according to The Telegraph, Barcelona are closely tracking the development of Manchester United teenage prodigy JJ Gabriel.
Just 15 years old, the forward, who can play through the middle or on the left, is regarded as one of the most exciting young talents across Europe.
Despite his age, Gabriel is already turning out for the Manchester United U-18 side in the U-18 Premier League and has netted 22 goals in 25 games this season, while also registering four assists.
Given his unlimited potential, Manchester United are fighting off interest from all corners in order to secure his long-term future at the club.
Manchester City have already tried to lure the 15-year-old precocious talent away from their local rivals.
Now, it is claimed that Barcelona are also keeping an eye on his progression, along with their bitter rivals, Real Madrid. Bayern Munich, too, are among the English gem’s admirers.
Given that he holds an Irish passport, he will be allowed to play in the EU countries from the age of 16 itself, making it a concern for Manchester United.
It will be interesting to see if Barcelona do make a move to lure Gabriel away from the Red Devils in the near future. For now, the club are keeping a close eye on his development.
