Barcelona are moving carefully when it comes to the future of Hansi Flick, fully aware that the final decision will rest entirely in the hands of the German coach.
Recent developments suggest that while the club is keen to extend Flick’s stay, they are also respecting his approach to handling such matters.
It must be noted that the German’s agent, Pini Zahavi, was recently in Barcelona, where he held discussions with key figures at the club.
The meeting covered multiple topics, including the situation of Robert Lewandowski and Flick’s own contractual future.
At the same time, communication between Flick and the club hierarchy remains constant.
Sporting director Deco is in regular contact with the manager, while president-elect Joan Laporta and current president Rafa Yuste are also closely involved in ongoing discussions.
Despite this, there is a clear understanding that no pressure will be applied.
This position becomes even more relevant given the emotional context, as Flick is still processing Barcelona’s recent elimination from the Champions League.

This setback has influenced the timing of any major decisions regarding his future.
A message from within the club has made the situation clear, highlighting that patience will be required before any agreement is finalised.
“Flick works to his own schedule, and he will decide his future when he is ready, not when his agent or the club says so; we must wait for him,” a club insider told Mundo Deportivo.
While Barcelona are willing to wait, they are not standing still. The club already has a structured plan in place for Flick’s renewal.
The idea is to extend his current deal by one additional fixed year, while also including an optional extra season based on performance targets.
However, there is realism within the boardroom, as Barcelona understand that tying Flick down for the entirety of Laporta’s presidential term until 2031 would be extremely difficult.
Instead, securing him for two more seasons, with an additional optional year, is seen as a more achievable and practical outcome.
