Barcelona reluctant to pay £26m for Man Utd forward’s permanent transfer
Barcelona are reportedly hesitant to pay £26 million for signing Marcus Rashford on a permanent deal this summer.
Rashford joined the Blaugrana on a season-long loan after falling out of favour at Old Trafford under former manager Ruben Amorim.
He has scored 12 goals and created 13 assists in 43 appearances across all competitions.
But the forward has failed to establish himself as a regular starter at Barca and his levels have dropped in 2026.
According to Marca, the La Liga giants are no longer sure they should spend a significant portion of their summer transfer budget to sign Rashford permanently.
Barcelona are yet to make a final decision about the 28-year-old’s future, but they feel the £26m outlay is excessive in the current market.
United remain firm on their stance that there will be no haggling over the striker.
Rashford is a gifted player who is known for his pace, dribbling skills and finishing ability.
He has scored 138 goals in 426 senior appearances for the Red Devils after rising through the club’s academy ranks.
Rashford struggled for game time under Amorim, but Michael Carrick is now in charge as interim boss.
And according to David Ornstein, Carrick is in pole position to land the permanent role at United.
Rashford could consider returning to his boyhood club if he fails to seal a permanent transfer to Barcelona.
Barcelona is reportedly hesitant due to financial considerations and the potential risk of committing to a permanent deal.
