Barcelona risk losing Brazilian wonderkid as Manchester City push ahead with €40m offer
Barcelona could be set to miss out on one of South America’s most exciting young prospects, with Manchester City moving decisively in the race to sign Brazilian talent Eduardo Conceicao.
The teenage forward, currently making waves at Palmeiras, has emerged as a priority target for several top European clubs.
However, it is Manchester City who appear to be taking concrete steps, reportedly entering advanced negotiations with Palmeiras to secure his signature.
From Barcelona’s perspective, this development represents a significant setback.
In fact, the Catalan club have been closely tracking the player for some time, with his representatives even making visits to the Ciutat Esportiva as part of early discussions.
Internally, he is viewed as a high-potential forward – versatile, technically gifted, and capable of evolving into a complete attacking threat.
Yet, while Barcelona continue to monitor the situation, their approach remains cautious.
Financial constraints and long-term planning are influencing their strategy, and entering a bidding war, especially against financially dominant clubs, is not currently aligned with their sporting model.
Now, as per SPORT, Manchester City are pushing aggressively.
As per the outlet, the Premier League side has already made a €40 million offer, showing their intent to secure the deal early and fend off growing competition.
As such, City also benefit from a strong working relationship with Palmeiras’ president, Leila Pereira, having already completed successful dealings between the two clubs in the past.
As expected, City are not alone in their pursuit, as Chelsea and Arsenal are also monitoring the situation closely, both clubs having shown a clear appetite for recruiting emerging South American talent in recent years.
For Barcelona, however, patience remains the chosen path. The club views Conceicao as a medium-term investment, especially considering that he would not be eligible to move to Europe until January 2028 due to FIFA regulations.
This timeline reduces the urgency but also increases the risk of losing control of the situation.
Ultimately, the decision may rest with the player himself. If he harbours ambitions of one day wearing the famous Blaugrana shirt, resisting lucrative offers from England could prove decisive.
But in a market driven by speed and financial power, Barcelona may once again find themselves watching from the sidelines as another elite talent edges closer to the Premier League.
