Barcelona star sends heartfelt message to Neymar Jr.
Barcelona star Lamine Yamal has on Monday sent a fresh message of appreciation the way of former Blaugrana standout Neymar Jr.
This comes as Hansi Flick’s troops prepare their best efforts for another historic comeback on the continent tomorrow evening.
Barcelona are currently preparing for a Champions League quarter-final return leg meeting with La Liga rivals Atlético Madrid.
The Spanish champions trail by two goals to nil following the tie’s opener at the Spotify Camp Nou, therefore requiring a minor miracle to turn things around on the road on Tuesday.
Barca’s stars, though, can draw inspiration from the club’s players of years gone by, in particular the famed ‘Remontada’ squad of 2016/17.
The aforementioned Neymar proved himself the leading figure in the Blaugrana’s historic comeback over Paris Saint-Germain, conjuring up a stunning individual display.
Speaking to the media on the eve of his side’s trip to the Metropolitano, the name of the Brazilian icon was therefore put to Lamine Yamal.
And the 18-year-old took full advantage of the opportunity to lavish praise on his biggest inspiration:
“Neymar is my idol and he shaped my childhood. You’d pay for a ticket just to watch him, and three days later you’d watch again what he did. I thank him for what he’s given to football, and I hope he’s at the World Cup.”
