Green 8, Ironton St. Joseph 1
Behind a five-run third inning and a complete game two-hitter from Baylee Bridges, the Green softball program was able to score a 8-1 victory over the Ironton St. Joseph Flyers' softball program Saturday afternoon in Ironton.
Bridges herself enjoyed a big day, striking out eight batters and walking only two in a 100-pitch complete game. The cleanup hitter also went 1-for-3 at the plate with a double, an RBI and a run scored for Green in the SOC I contest.
Addy Brown (2-for-4, RBI, two runs scored), Addy Christian (1-for-3, run scored), Aliya Bradley (1-for-3, run scored), Peyton Neal (1-for-3, RBI, run scored), Jayden Neal (1-for-3, run scored) and Taylor Patten (1-for-2, run scored) rounded out the winning cause for Green, who improved to 9-8 overall and 4-4 in SOC I play with the victory.
BASEBALL
Wheelersburg 4, Lexington (Ky.) Frederick Douglass 1
Behind eight hits from six different players and strong pitching from both Owen Wilburn and Bransyn Russell on the bump, the Wheelersburg Pirates' baseball program was able to claim a 4-1 triumph over the Frederick Douglass Broncos' baseball program in an impressive win over a Kentucky High School Athletic Association (KHSAA) Class 6A program Saturday afternoon in Prestonsburg, Ky.
Wilburn, who threw six-and-two-thirds innings with five strikeouts, allowed just one run which came in the bottom of the seventh inning. At that point, Russell came on for the save and needed just three pitches to get the contest's final strikeout and record the win for Wheelersburg in the game.
Hitting-wise, Russell (1-for-3, run scored), Cameron Conn (2-for-3, walk, run scored) and Drake Bundy (2-for-2, walk, RBI) led the Pirates at the plate, while Drew Holland (1-for-2), Andrew Tabor (1-for-4, run scored) and Tanner Scior (1-for-3) rounded out the Pirates that reached via a hit in the contest.
Wheelersburg 11, Prestonsburg (Ky.) 2
In a dominating effort where the Wheelersburg Pirates' baseball program posted hits in six out of its seven innings up at the plate, Derek Moore's group was able to claim an 11-2 win over the Prestonsburg Blackcats' baseball program Saturday afternoon in Prestonsburg, Ky.
Between the quartet of Cameron Conn, Drew Holland, Brady Doss and Andrew Tabor, the four players at the top of Wheelersburg's batting order went 9-for-12 with two doubles, three walks, six RBI and seven runs scored in the game. Hunter Henderson also went 1-for-1 with two RBI while Brady Music went 1-for-4 with a double in the contest as well for the Pirates.
Pitching-wise, Tanner Scior picked up the win after throwing six innings of nine-strikeout, three-hit baseball. Drew Holland worked the final inning of relief in the win for the Pirates.

Green 4, Ironton St. Joseph 3 (F/9)
In a grueling nine-inning battle, the Green Bobcats' baseball program ultimately got a ninth-inning RBI single by Gabe Blevins en route to pulling out a big SOC I road win over the Ironton St. Joseph Flyers' baseball program in nine innings Friday evening in Ironton.
Blevins toughed out a six-inning performance where the junior struck out five batters in six complete and only allowed two earned runs by driving in the game-winning run in the ninth. Blevins drove in Riddick Jenkins, who legged out an infield single and stole second base to put Blevins in a position to drive in the game-winning run.
Blevins ultimately went 1-for-4 with two RBI at the plate in addition to his work on the bump while Jenkins went 1-for-4 with a run scored in the contest.
Jon Knapp, who threw just 29 pitches in three innings of work on the bump, got the win after striking out five batters and not allowing a hit during his time on the hill. Knapp also drew three walks at the plate offensively.
Conner Blanton (2-for-4, RBI), Mason Neal (1-for-3, walk), Noah McMackin (1-for-5), Brennan Renison (1-for-3, walk, run scored) and Uriah Satterfield (1-for-3, double, run scored) each reached the hit column in the Green triumph.
Minford 10, Manchester 0 (F/5)
Behind an offense that collected a dozen hits and had five players with multi-hit performances, the Minford Falcons' baseball program was able to claim a 10-0 triumph over the Manchester Greyhounds' baseball program Friday evening at VA Memorial Stadium in Chillicothe.
Max Lauder, Carter Frazie, Colby Mullins, Colt Donahoe and Evan Richards combined to go 10-for-15 at the plate for the Falcons with a triple, two doubles, six RBI and six runs scored to lead Minford in the triumph.
Mason Bradley, who threw four-and-two-thirds innings of five-hit, eight-strikeout baseball, went 1-for-3 with a triple, a walk, three RBI and two runs scored while Curtis Glenn went 1-for-2 with a walk and two runs scored himself.
Richards needed just one pitch to record the final out of the game for the Falcons in the win.
Valley 5, Waverly 1
Behind a strong start from Valley pitcher Caysen Zieber, the Valley Indians' baseball program was able to claim a 5-1 victory over the Waverly Tigers' baseball program Monday evening in Waverly.
Zieber, who threw six innings of eight-hit baseball, allowed just one earned run in his 88 pitches of work. Nolan Barnett, who threw the final inning in relief of Zieber, needed just eight pitches to complete the victory for Valley.
Along with Barnett, who went 1-for-3 with a run scored at the plate, Gabe McNeil went 3-for-4 with two doubles, an RBI and a run scored in the contest while Colin Greene (2-for-3, walk, double, RBI), Hunter Cunningham (1-for-2, double, walk, two RBI, run scored), Nick Queen (1-for-3, walk, run scored) and Carson Powell (1-for-3, walk, RBI) all reached the hit column in the win for Valley.
Wheelersburg 16, West 0 (F/5)
Behind 13 hits, an eight-run second inning and a seven-run fourth, the Wheelersburg Pirates' baseball program was able to claim a 16-0 victory over the West Senators' baseball program in five innings on Friday evening in West Portsmouth.
Between Cameron Conn, Drew Holland, Brady Doss, Drake Bundy and Tanner Scior, the quintet went 12-for-17 with a triple, four doubles, nine RBI and nine runs scored in the game for the Pirates.
Brady Music also went 1-for-3 with a walk, three RBI and a run scored for Wheelersburg in the SOC III win.
West was led by Isaak Tipton (3-for-3), Owen Richards 91-for-2) and Carter Keyser (1-for-1) in the setback.
SOFTBALL
Valley 11, Waverly 2
Behind eight runs in the opening two innings of competition and multi-hit performances from five different players, the Valley Indians' softball program was able to claim an 11-2 victory over the Waverly Tigers' softball program Friday evening in Waverly.
Between Ryleigh Weeks, Emilie Barr, Laylee McGraw, Izabella Bray and EJ Vice, the quintet went 14-for-23 with Vice posting a home run and a double and Bray, McGraw and Weeks adding in three more doubles. The five players also combined for seven RBI and 11 runs scored in the game.
Inside the circle, Valley junior Kendyl Christman struck out 14 batters in a complete game four-hitter for the Lady Indians. Christman also went 1-for-2 at the plate, drawing a walk and recording a sacrifice fly RBI to boot in the game.
Zoe Wolfe (1-for-4, double) rounded out the hit column for Valley in the win.
Wheelersburg 16, West 1 (F/5)
Behind multi-hit efforts from five different players and an eight-run third inning, the Wheelersburg Pirates' softball program was able to claim a 16-1 triumph over the West Senators' softball program Friday evening in West Portsmouth.
Between Libby Allen, Lainey Skeenes, Layna Howard, Mati Jennings and Mylee Jo Gleim, the quintet went 11-for-18 with two doubles, nine RBI and 10 runs scored in the win.
Lauren Truitt (1-for-3) added in a home run, two RBI and a run scored in the contest, while Makenzie Mullens (1-for-2, walk, RBI, run scored), Makenna Vaught (1-for-2, double) and Ava Estep (1-for-4, two RBI, two runs scored) all contributed to the hit column in Friday evening's SOC III triumph for Wheelersburg.
West was led by Lainey Cook (2-for-3) while Aubree Hayslip (1-for-2, run scored), Ariane Jordan (1-for-2) and Lyla Cornell (1-for-3) all reached via base hits as well.
