Bayern Munich have maintained interest in Hertha Berlin youngster Kennet Eichhorn, whoās been a standout performer this season in midfield despite missing a good portion of action due to an ankle injury midway through the season. When heās fully fit, Eichhorn has been a regular starter in Herthaās midfield under manager Stefan Leitl, and other clubs across Europe other than Bayern have started to take notice.
In addition to the German Rekordmeister, all of Borussia Dortmund, RB Leipzig, and Manchester City have expressed interest in the soon to be 17-year-old phenom, adding stiff competition. For Bayern, itās not going to be easy to win out in the race to sign him.
Per information from Sky Sport journalist Florian Plettenberg, the plan with Manchester City would be to sign him and then loan him out to Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga so that he could gain some valuable experience in the German top flight. At City, minutes in the Premier League or domestic and European cup competitions would be virtually impossible. Manager Pep Guardiola is said to be personally involved in the pursuit of Eichhorn, though, which is always something that would always be cause for concern for other clubs interested in any given player Pepās associated with trying to sign. He has the angle of having managed Bayern in the Bundesliga and City in the Premier League to be able to provide insight to a young player like Eichhorn, who could easily b swayed one way or another.

Plettenberg also adds that previous reports coming out of Germany saying that Dortmund were in pole position to sign Eichhorn are false. However, between Bayern, City, Leverkusen, Leipzig and Dortmund, meetings and discussions have already taken place and itās more or less up to the player himself what he ultimately decides to do. His release clause at Hertha is for ā¬10-12m, so money is not much of an issue for any of the interested clubs, though the cooperation between City and Leverkusen does appear to be giving Guardiolaās side the upper hand at this juncture.
