The Cincinnati Bengals weren’t involved in Round 1 of the NFL draft this year.
But their name has managed to come up in reports.
Thank a weird, unexpected combination of things like Sean McVay, the Los Angeles Rams and Joe Flacco.
For those out of the loop, the Rams drafted quarterback Ty Simpson at No. 13 overall. McVay…didn’t look too happy about it.
And now here comes ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reporting that, due to the Jimmy Garoppolo retirement, the Rams made an attempt to sign Flacco.
But, as Bengals fans surely know, Flacco chose to end his trip to free agency earlier than expected, re-signing with the team that traded for him last year and choosing to be Joe Burrow’s top backup.
So in a funny twist of fate, everyone on the planet partially has Flacco and the Bengals to thank for the trainwreck storyline that is the Rams right now.
