It was the first big move in a problem area after the Bengals didnât do much to seek out upgrades in free agency or the draft.
But it probably wonât be the last.
Said linebacker is Swayze Bozeman, formerly of the New York Giants and Kansas City Chiefs. The fact they grabbed him on the waiver wire speaks to how much they like him.
But this is a Bengals team adamant about building around and supporting Demetrius Knight and Barrett Carter. And the team didnât do nearly enough last year to find a proper veteran leader and quality depth, merely signing the likes of Oren Burks.
The Bengals have some solid developmental types like Shaka Heyward, but Bozeman isnât going to be that âveteran presenceâ coaches have openly talked about wanting to add.
Maybe that "veteran" wonât end up being a big name like Bobby Wagner, but thereâs no reason to think Bozemanâs arrival will stop the Bengals from adding a veteran between now and well into the summer.
