Big Ten disburses record revenue sharing payments to member schools

Power conferences are identified as such because of the money they bring in via their headline sports. The public got a sense of just how lucrative it is to be part of one such conference, as the Big Ten's revenue distribution figures were recently released.

USA TODAY Sports reports that the Big Ten paid $1.37 billion in revenue-sharing distribution to its member schools for the 2024-2025 fiscal year.

That comes out to a nifty $72 million per school, although Washington and Oregon are reportedly receiving less as the Big Ten's most junior members.

Comparative statistics show that the conference is making money hand over fist, as the distribution is $490 million more than the previous fiscal year.

2024-2025 was the first full year of the Big Ten's new television contract, which may help explain the jump.

The Big Ten also had four schools participate in the 2025 College Football Playoff (Indiana, Ohio State, Penn State and Oregon).
