Outside of the Toronto Blue Jays dealing with a slew of injuries, I don't think it's too fair to get upset with what they've done.
Sitting at 7-9 and only two games out in the American League East right now, I actually think there are some positives to take away from what the Blue Jays are dealing with. Unfortunately, injuries have just piled up for this team, and there's nothing they can really do about it. The Blue Jays can only try to weather the storm and hope things improve over the next few weeks or months.
However, others believe that the Blue Jays' biggest problem was not adding any big bats during the offseason. Unfortunately, this has been a problem in Toronto for much of the past few offseasons.
âToronto Blue Jays: Whiffing on big bats. It's hard to get on the Jays for whiffing on Tucker and Bichette when they signed such massive deals with the Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Mets, respectively, and it's not as if either star has even played well thus far. With that being said, Okamoto hasn't hit much either, and it's hard to fully buy into this Jays lineup,â Zachary Rotman of FanSided wrote.
Even after making the World Series, the hope was that the Blue Jays would be able to finally add some big-name free agents. Instead, it didn't seem like things really went in Toronto's favor. They were able to add Dylan Cease, and he was a great addition for the Blue Jays, but they didn't go out and land a star bat by any means.
The Toronto Blue Jays are dealing with a slew of injuries that have impacted their performance.
Critics argue that the Blue Jays failed to add significant bats during the offseason, which has been a recurring issue for the team.
The Blue Jays currently have a record of 7-9, placing them only two games out of first in the American League East.
