Bolton pulls away late from Chazy

The second game was called early due to rain, but Ti salvaged the weekend with a 11-3 victory over Nichols.

After scoring on a single and an error, Cayleigh Handel launched a two-run home run over the centerfield fence to make it 3-0.

Ti got one back when Lillian Davis led off the top of the fourth with a triple and was brought in by a single by Addison Munson.

Scoring opportunities were limited beyond that as it became a pitcher’s duel between Tuckahoe’s Katie Attwood and Ti’s Clara Mitchell.

Attwood struck out 13 while Mitchell struck out nine.

Munson finished the day 2-for-3 with an RBI.

“Katie Attwood is one of the best pitchers in the state for Class C and showed it again today,” Ti head coach Eric Mullen said. “However, Clara did a nice job of matching her throughout the game and is starting to settle in as a pitcher.

“Despite the constant rain today, it was a well played game by both teams. This was a good test to see where we are currently at competitively with other teams in the state. Although we came up short again against Tuckahoe, I am very pleased with how well we played.”

Nichols pitcher Reyes Rodriguez struggled with control in the first inning, allowing Ti to take advantage to jump out to an early lead.

This led to the Sentinels pulling away to defeat the Big Green, 11-3.

The game was called in the bottom of the fifth due to Mudville’s eight-run mercy rule.

Lillian Davis finished 2-for-3 with her second triple in as many games. Gracie Carr finished 2-for-3 with a triple and RBI.

Eagles win tourney

BEEKMANTOWN — In the second annual Beekmantown softball tournament, the Eagles would claim victory with two wins on the day.

Awards were given out as Beekmantown’s Keelyn St. Clair and Ashley Barnes received All-Star awards. Meegan Burdo was tournament MVP. Addi Jewell and Lilly Perry earned Leadership awards.

AuSable Valley and Brushton-Moira each received one All-Star award and one leadership award. All-Star for AVCS was Julia Bailey, and Renee Bruno received the Leadership. B/M Bella Dishew and Amelia Pentalow won the leadership and All-Star awards, respectively.

Beekmantown defeated Brushton Moira, 17-1, and defeated the Patriots, 6-3.

St. Clair pitched six innings of five-hit softball to keep the Eagles within striking distance of the Patriots.

Beekmantown helped her cause with a five-run sixth to defeat AuSable Valley, 6-3, in the first game of the tournament.

St. Clair got a double as Perry pitched in relief to get the save and hit a double.

Burdo continued her hot bat with three hits.

AuSable was led by Kylie Akey’s two hits, which were doubles.

“This was a solid pitching effort by both sides,” Beekmantown coach Michele Barnes said. “Keelyn gave us six strong innings, and Lilly closed it out for us. Ava Doyle also threw a great game for them.

“Meegan Burdo is hitting the ball well and led us with three singles. Renee Bruno and Julia Bailey were standouts defensively for AuSable.”

BRUSHTON-MOIRA 1

Jewell threw a complete game for the Eagles, pounding out 16 hits to defeat Bushton-Moira, 17-1.

Burdo continued to produce with three singles. Ashley Barnes and Gillian Roberts had two and one double, respectively. Mia Perez and Lindsey Shanley had a double each.

“Addi threw a great complete game for us,” Barnes said. “Amelia Pentalow is only a seventh grader and did a nice job for Brushton.

“We had numerous players with multiple hits, which was good, but we made too many errors, which we need to clean up. We still have a lot to improve upon but came away with two nice wins today.”
