Braves trade idea brings in three-time All-Star to pair with Ronald Acuna Jr. in deal that would capture NL East

“The Atlanta Braves would make this move because they are already in an all-in position, sitting at 26–12, the best record in baseball. At that point, the focus shifts from long-term planning to maximizing a legitimate World Series opportunity.

“Adding a bat like Yordan Álvarez, who is producing a .319 average, 12 home runs, and a 1.061 OPS in 2026, gives Atlanta another elite middle-of-the-order force,” Ryan Shea of SI wrote.

Adding somebody of Alvarez's caliber would completely change the National League, no matter who lands him if he does get traded to a team in the NL. He's the type of guy who can completely flip a series at any moment, and honestly, I'd be willing to give up a lot if I were the Braves to complete this trade.

It might seem like a lot in terms of prospects, and it would be, as Ritchie and others have a chance to be really good one day, but this is Yordan Alvarez we're talking about at the end of the day.
